Intermodal Operations Specialist (RIOS) are responsible for safely performing activities and completing processes that place customer freight for intermodal rail and yard movement according to each Class 1 railroads key performance measurements. This role is a cross-trained position with responsibilities including, but not limited to, yard/lift operations, securement, clerical administrative duties, load plan coordination, customer service, driver assistance, safety leader, terminal operating system knowledge, and remote operations. Cross-Train to Support Grain Transloading Operations: Operate and monitor equipment such as conveyors, augers, gate openers, and loaders to ensure smooth and efficient grain handling. Safely load and unload grain from trucks and railcars, adhering to established protocols. Conduct regular inspections of equipment to verify proper functionality and compliance with safety standards. Maintain accurate records of grain products, shipments, and railcar details. Collaborate with team members to optimize workflow, improve efficiency, and minimize downtime. Perform routine maintenance and promptly report any equipment malfunctions or issues to management. Clean and maintain equipment and work areas to ensure a safe and organized environment. Assist in the movement of railcars and the operation of rail switches as needed.
