About The Position

This position will be to provide a full-time Educational Secretary for Pleasant Grove Independent School District. This employee must: 1) be a high school graduate or hold a GED certificate; 2) have two years of experience as an Educational Secretary; or fifteen semester hours of college credit with some business orientation or equivalent business school background; or three years of general clerical/secretarial experience; 3) have appropriate clerical or secretarial experience or background as approved by employing Superintendent; or 4) be recommended by the employing Superintendent. The secretary shall have knowledge, skills, abilities, and attitudes of the following nature; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; to communicate and work with students, teachers, school administrators, and the public; to maintain records, to type, to maintain a general level of bookkeeping; to maintain effective working relationships with other auxiliary personnel, teachers, school administrators and the public and have a positive and cooperative attitude toward the duties of the aide, the school, the staff, and the students. The secretary will be employed as secretary for the Pleasant Grove High School and will work for 184 days. Pay scale and classification will not be less than the minimum compensation plan for Pleasant Grove Independent School District. The secretary will be under the immediate direction of the school administration.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • work with the administration and carry out such duties and responsibilities as policies in relation to students, teachers, school administrators and the public would demand.
  • carry out such duties and responsibilities as clerical operations, maintaining records including student attendance, typing, bookkeeping; and performing other stenographic and clerical functions.
  • participates in staff development as scheduled.
  • respects the confidence of instructional personnel and the administration.
  • display initiative, good judgment, and common sense in dealing with school patrons, either on the telephone or in the school office.
  • perform other duties as assigned by the administration.
  • Responsible for the Frontline/AESOP Absence Management System (teacher absences and substitute placement)
