About The Position

Perform moderately complex calculations, modeling, reporting, risk, and compliance functions to support annuity, life, or employee benefit product development. Quantify and qualify results and perform actions required for sign-off before implementation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, finance, or equivalent experience
  • Four years of experience in modeling, business systems analysis, or data analytics
  • Moderate understanding of actuarial concepts, including risk management, interest rate models, etc.
  • Experience supporting product design projects and knowledge of associated regulatory requirements
  • Moderate technical proficiency to maintain and enhance policy administration systems including rate tables
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities within deadlines
  • Moderate experience and skills with MS Excel formula usage and creation
  • Moderate experience with modeling software and programming languages (e.g. Access, SQL, Visual Basic)
  • Advanced skill at working independently and collaborating in a team environment

Responsibilities

  • Perform moderately complex actuarial calculations, data analytics, and business systems analysis using custom and production administrative and illustrations systems.
  • Align moderately complex calculations and testing requirements with product/pricing designs and state/federal regulations.
  • Demonstrate thorough understanding of product and calculation specifications and/or numerical examples.
  • Create and use moderately complex formulas/macros and tools to validate system alignment with product specifications.
  • Develop and maintain tools used for manual calculations and/or rate-determination.
  • Perform manual calculations of various product features and benefits where system limitations exist, providing prompt and accurate values to operations partners.
  • Provide signoff on product related technical requirements, test plans, and user acceptance testing for projects of medium or limited scope.
  • Demonstrate moderate understanding of system navigation, transaction activity, tables, and other system features.
  • Perform regular, periodic, and time-sensitive tasks with accuracy and consistently meet or exceed deadlines.
  • Extract and integrate data from various databases to analyze and reconcile data contained in financial or customer impact reports for internal use.
  • Support internal and external financial audits and controls by producing evidence of system calculation accuracy.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and solutions.
