Job Description: The Role: Intermediate Care Float Pool Registered Nurse (RN) Provides direct patient care to critically ill adult patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization. The Opportunity: This Intermediate Care Float Pool RN position is 36 hours per week and requires weekend & holiday rotation. This position will require work on various nursing units such as Med/Surg & Behavioral Health, as well as taking care of lower-acuity & holdover patients in the Critical Care Unit and Emergency Department. This is the second step in the Float Pool career ladder - perfect for an experienced med/surg RN looking to expand their skillset!

Requirements

  • Active Maine RN licensure or ability to obtain same in a timely fashion, required
  • At least 1 year of RN Acute Care/Med Surg experience, strongly preferred
  • Willingness to cross-train to many departments and achieve & maintain multiple competencies
  • Excellent teamwork, communication and collaboration skills
  • Proven and demonstrated critical thinking skills

Responsibilities

  • Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care plans based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel.
  • May precept student nurses and new hires.
