About The Position

Licensed, Interim Upper School biology teacher needed at IC Imagine Public Charter School in Asheville through the end of the school year. The teacher is expected to plan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive curriculum for a multitude of science courses for grades 9-12 with the preferred emphasis in biology and earth sciences. Salary based on IC Imagine’s Salary Schedule .

Requirements

Skilled in problem solving and decision making as well as observation, listening, and coaching
Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
Maintain effective working relationships
Strong supervisory and leadership skills to manage and control the classroom
Possess strong time management skills
Ability to prioritize workload and multitask in a busy environment
Willingness to teach a range of high school courses and possibly college level courses
Proficiency with G Suite
Minimum Bachelor’s Degree
Valid North Carolina teaching license
1-3 years teaching experience preferred

Nice To Haves

Masters in biology or other science preferred in order to teach dual enrollment courses through AB Tech partnership. Additional Stipend for AB Tech courses.
Advanced placement (AP) training preferred

Responsibilities

Demonstrate extensive knowledge of NC standards in the sciences
Use resources necessary to plan, implement, and evaluate an engaging, age-appropriate course of study that follows the guidelines of the NC Standards for all courses taught
Design instruction appropriate for all students that reflects an understanding of relevant content and is based on continuous and appropriate assessment
Implement SEL Curriculum and lead advisory group
Collaborate with other teachers, support staff and the IC Imagine community to enhance the educational opportunities for all students
Participate in Standard Based Grading practices and track/communicate attendance thresholds
Prepare students for participation in state assessments
Prepare and deliver appropriate instruction for intervention and enrichment groups
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners
Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to the positive school climate
Frequent oral and written communication with parents and families of students
Frequent oral and written communication with colleagues and administrators
Manage inventory and repair of instructional resources and equipment
Plan and facilitate student field trips to provide enrichment opportunities
Follow the processes laid out in the faculty handbook, respond to emails in a timely manner, keep grades updated weekly, and correspond regularly with families with pertinent information for courses taught.
Perform additional duties including, but not limited to supervision during non-instructional time, attending after-school events and meetings, participating in enrollment activities leading and during the Open Enrollment period.
Adhere to all legal and ethical requirements of the teaching profession and set an example for others to do the same.
