About The Position

The Director of Team Nursing assumes authority, responsibility and accountability for the delivery of nursing services. Provides strategic direction and leadership for nursing services in accordance to the mission, values and philosophy of PCC Community Wellness Center. Provides guidance in planning, development and implementation of nursing excellence initiatives to ensure adherence to the American Nurses Associations Standards of Care and Standards of Professional Practice. In collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of clinical nursing operations. Collaborates with other departments to develop, support and coordinate clinical care across the organization. Establishes and maintains high standards for quality of care and patient safety.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Nursing or Master’s degree with a concentration in nursing administration, health care administration, business or other health care profession preferred.
  • Registered Nursing license Illinois required.
  • Knowledge of ambulatory services acquired through clinical experience; minimum of 5 years of nursing required.
  • Must be knowledgeable of epidemiologic principles, infection diseases, and in method of infection practices.
  • 3 years operations experience in a management leadership role.
  • 2 - 3 years EMR experience required.
  • Constantly communicates with executive and medical leadership, directors and auxiliary staff. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Proficient in MS Office Business Applications to include Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Ability to read and write proficiently using the English language.

Responsibilities

  • Staff Development and Support Lead and direct nursing personnel for effective delivery of quality patient care and participate in patient care as needed.
  • Centrally oversee hiring, onboarding and orientation of nurses in collaboration with nurse team leads and Deputy Chief of Operation to; ensure continuity between sites of key skill demonstrations.
  • Identify educational needs of PCC Nurses to develop, implement and evaluate continuing education programs, product in-services, and other staff development activities.
  • Develop, coordinate and promote nurses; learning and certification opportunities (i.e. wound certification).
  • Instruct and facilitate others in teaching nurses about new products, techniques, research, interventions, or standards.
  • Promote and oversee PCC ambulatory care training/mentoring opportunities for student nurses.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate competencies and educational activities for nurses to promote high standards of clinical practice in the ambulatory setting.
  • Develop, maintain, and implement nursing policies, procedures, and workflows that conform to current standards of nursing practice, maintaining compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Communicate and interpret policies and procedures to nursing staff and monitor staff practices and implementation.
  • Collaborate with providers, consultants, and community agencies to improve the quality of services and to resolve identified problems.
  • Initiate and/or participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of standards of care and practice to achieve workflow improvements
  • Identify areas of opportunity for standardization of nursing staff clinical practice.
  • Use results of quality monitoring data and other evidence-based content to plan and conduct annual competency verification activities that assure compliance with accreditation and regulatory bodies.
  • Develop, implement and monitor sustainable quality measures and clinical practice improvements specific to ambulatory nursing staff.
  • Conduct ongoing, systematic review and tally of clinical encounters documented by nursing staff.
  • Collaborate with Deputy Chief of Operation, COO, and CMO to monitor and evaluate clinical quality activities; identify ways to continue team-based care.
  • Identify emerging population-based needs/programs and collaborate with the Chief Population Health Officer, Director of Performance Improvement, Director of Compliance in developing pilots to implement in clinic.
  • Review internal guidelines, policies, and procedures for consistency with evidence-based practice and develops recommendations for enhancement
  • Support staff and coordinates nurse-driven initiatives for PCC clinical sites
  • Serve on PCC committees and participates in other role-based meetings to maintain enhanced communications.
  • Coordinate with Director of Development and Communications to track and describe “lessons learned” for local and wider promotion and publication.
  • Facilitate workgroups, projects, and nursing quality improvement activities.
  • Direct Safety and Infection Control Coordinator and provide clinical expertise for PCC Safety Committee initiatives.
  • Attend Infection Control Roundtable for Ambulatory Care at CDPH and bring education and initiatives back to the Safety Committee and other appropriate persons at PCC.
  • In collaboration with the Safety and Infection Control Coordinator, assess any emerging public health diseases and outbreaks, assess risks at PCC and develop workflows, policies and revise Infection Prevention and Control action plan as needed.
  • Act as a consultant with all disciplines to train on proper precautions to keep staff safe from possible contamination and/infection.
  • Develop and conduct needs assessment and/or surveys
  • Coordinate with Director of Development and Communications to facilitate clinical staff participation in local outreach activities including community events and fairs.
