About The Position

The Intensive Case Manager at Church World Service (CWS) plays a crucial role in providing home study and post-release services to unaccompanied children and their sponsors. This position focuses on ensuring the safe and timely release of children from federal care while applying clinical expertise to deliver therapeutic, culturally appropriate case management services. The role involves conducting in-home visits, assessing the needs of children, and collaborating with community service providers to support the well-being and integration of immigrant children into their new environments.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or a related field; Bachelor's degree with 5 years of clinical case management experience may be considered.
  • At least 3 years of experience working with children and youth in family reunification or child welfare; 5 years if holding a BSW.
  • Experience with foreign-born populations is required.
  • Ability to provide trauma-informed assessments and crisis interventions.
  • Experience navigating complex systems such as child welfare and immigration.
  • Prior clinical experience working with clients in acute crisis is required.
  • Active licensure or eligibility for licensure in Indiana is necessary.
  • Minimum of 2 years of post-graduate direct clinical service experience.

  • Fluency in Spanish and English is preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse socio-economic backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-person home visits to interview and assess children and their sponsors.
  • Complete home study recommendations within 10 days of referral.
  • Provide weekly in-person home visits to children released from federal care to stabilize placements.
  • Conduct safety planning and risk assessments, focusing on family preservation.
  • Advocate for children and families to navigate complex systems such as child welfare and immigration court.
  • Develop individualized, strength-based service plans for children and sponsors.
  • Coordinate referrals and address barriers in service areas like legal, education, and mental health.
  • Provide psychoeducation on relevant topics to children and sponsors.
  • Monitor the safety and well-being of children, including signs of trafficking or abuse.
  • Prepare case notes and reports in a timely manner.
