About The Position

The Intelligence Analyst is responsible for transforming data into actionable insights that drive informed operational decisions. This role involves working closely with stakeholders to gather and document business and technical requirements, developing dashboards, reports, and visualizations, and ensuring the accuracy and consistency of data. Additionally, the analyst plays a key role in promoting the effective use of reporting and analytics tools across the organization, supporting user adoption and ongoing engagement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and one (1) year of data analytics or information systems experience in healthcare, revenue cycle, or finance.
  • Epic certification or accreditation in one of the following data models required post-hire within 6 months: Clinical Data Model, Access Data Model or Revenue Data Model.
  • An Epic assessment will be given to those candidates who pass the initial review step of the interview process.
  • Knowledge of data analytics, information systems, analysis, and programming.
  • Knowledge of system features and integration capabilities.
  • Knowledge of relational database systems, SQL, Java and web application development.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Analytical, programming, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to perform extract, transform, and load (ETL) data.
  • Ability to create, design, or enhance computer applications.
  • Ability to program, test, debug, document, or install systems.
  • Ability to prepare reports and maintain records and documentation.
  • Ability to perform high level mathematical analysis.

  • Information systems and SQL reporting experience in healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain custom reports, dashboards, and visualizations within the Epic ecosystem using Epic BI tools and platforms like Qlik apps to support business operations and strategic initiatives.
  • Utilize Epic data models to build and optimize queries, reports, and visualizations that meet business needs and comply with organizational policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure efficient performance, especially with large datasets.
  • Analyze clinical, financial, operational, and patient care data to identify trends, performance gaps, and improvement opportunities.
  • Create and maintain automated reports that support regular business processes, delivering actionable insights for decision-makers.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to interpret data, define key performance indicators (KPIs), and recommend data-driven solutions.
  • Monitor data quality, validate analytical results, and implement improved standards and methodologies to enhance data analysis and visualization.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and serve as a technical resource for staff.
  • Partner with clinical, operational, and IT teams to assess reporting requirements and design integrated solutions that ensure data consistency and accuracy across sources.
  • Develop specifications and conduct research with DIS staff, users, and vendors to design, develop, or enhance applications.
  • Prepare technical documentation following UMMC standards and policies.
  • Create user guides and training materials, and deliver end-user training to promote effective use of analytics tools and reports.
  • Participate in technical committees to identify risks, track progress, and support timely completion of project goals.
