About The Position

The objective of the Student Programs at Nexteer Automotive is to select students with high potential and provide them with "real world" work experiences. Work assignments expose students to many of the company’s products, processes and procedures. Assignments are designed to assimilate acquired classroom education with actual hands-on work experience in a technical environment. In addition, Nexteer Automotive gains the opportunity to find new talent to enhance productivity while providing students exposure to full-time career opportunities. Job Requisition Introductory Paragraph: This is a business-related role on the Strategic Engineering staff focused on Intellectual Property (IP) case management. The position will report to the Intellectual Property Manager and will work in close partnership with the global engineering team to provide a professional atmosphere to capture and protect innovation at Nexteer Automotive.

Requirements

  • Candidate must be attending a 2 year college or 4 year university local to Saginaw
  • Candidate must be pursuing a degree in Business or Business-Related Field, Engineering and Liberal Arts degrees will be considered with interest and aptitude of subject matter
  • Strong organizational skills, high attention to detail and professional
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with upmost integrity
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a fast paced, multi-cultural environment.
  • Must have a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
  • Candidate must be able to work 20-32 hours during Fall and Winter semesters
  • Up to 40 in the summer
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
  • Must be a full-time student (12 or more credits) during Fall and Winter semesters
  • Candidate must have right to work in the US and not require current or future sponsorship

Responsibilities

  • Filing innovation records through the IP lifecycle
  • Assist with IP inventor recognition program – Including determining eligibility, tracking awards, ordering plaques, coordinating events, etc.
  • Coordinate training opportunities related to IP
  • Assist with budget and purchase orders for outside services
  • Assist with form development, and process documentation and efficiency
  • Prepare agendas and documentation for Patent Review Board meetings
  • Participate in limited activities offsite and/or during non-traditional hours
  • Assist with special projects requested
