About The Position

The Intake Specialist provides direct services to clients and maintains accurate records of those services. This position is responsible for identifying low-income families, the elderly, and other individuals or groups in need, while distributing information about available community programs and resources. The Intake Specialist ensures compliance with all agency policies, procedures, and funding source regulations, while always maintaining a professional and compassionate approach.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Comfortable using computers and basic office technology
• Compassionate, professional, and reliable

Nice To Haves

• Experience in social services or nonprofit work preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients to assess needs and determine program eligibility
• Connect individuals and families to services such as energy assistance, food programs, and community resources
• Enter and maintain accurate client information in computer systems
• Collect and organize required documentation
• Answer phone calls and greet clients professionally
• Provide referrals and explain next steps, including appeal options when applicable
• Use technology to support efficient service delivery
• Participate in training and work as part of a supportive team
