Intake Specialist Non Clinical
About The Position
The Intake Specialist – Utilization Management (Non-Clinical) provides administrative and operational support to the Utilization Management (UM) Department by serving as the first point of contact for utilization management requests. This role is strictly non-clinical and does not involve the evaluation, interpretation, or application of clinical criteria or medical judgment. The Intake Specialist supports continuity, accuracy, and timeliness of UM workflows by receiving requests, confirming eligibility, creating cases, entering initial data into the UM platform, and routing requests to the appropriate clinical reviewer in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (required)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume call and case-management environment
- Strong data entry, documentation, and attention-to-detail skills
- Professional verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to navigate multiple systems simultaneously
Nice To Haves
- Experience in healthcare administration, managed care, utilization management, or prior authorization intake
- Familiarity with electronic UM or authorization platforms
- Experience working with providers, facilities, or health plans
- Knowledge of healthcare terminology (non-clinical)
