About The Position
Kingwood Pines Hospital is a 116 bed facility located in the beautiful residential Kingwood community. We are located about 30 miles northeast of the Houston Medical Center. The hospital provides 24-hour emergency services. We serve children, adolescents, and adults for psychiatric and behavioral health. The hospital also has services in intensive outpatient and partial hospital program services. Website: www.kingwoodpines.com Click here for a virtual Facility Tour POSITION SUMMARY The Intake Nurse provides nursing care, medical screening and triage to all psychiatric and chemical dependency patients presented for assessment and evaluation; coordinates the admission process for inpatient, partial or outpatient programs. Facilitates referrals for outpatient services and other community resources.
Requirements
- Graduate of accredited school of nursing. Bachelor’s preferred.
- Current RN licensed in the State of Texas.
- Current CPR.
- Current Physical and Verbal Crisis Intervention Prevention Certification.
- Current Texas Drivers license
- Minimum of two (2) years experience in psychiatric nursing is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Perform initial nursing screening and appropriate clinical assessment on all persons who present for an evaluation.
- Recognizes signs and symptoms of chemical dependency disorders and applies/utilizes appropriate treatment interventions.
- Recognizes signs and symptoms of mental health disorders and applies/utilizes appropriate treatment interventions.
- Assess, direct and intervene in crisis situations.
- Administer medications as ordered by the physician should the need occur.
- Perform the nurse-to-nurse screen for all patients transferred in or out of the Admissions Department.
- Perform and document all pre-certifications on all admissions.
- Facilitate referrals to outpatient treatment services.
- Assume personal responsibility for excellent customer service.
- Respond to telephone and face-to-face inquiries from persons seeking behavioral health services.
- Document calls and related information on Intake form and enters data into computer system.
- Stay abreast of organization’s programs and services.
- Assist Director with performance monitors.
