About The Position

The person filling this position is expected, under general supervision to (1) conduct initial intake and assessment for prospective clients, (2) refer prospective clients to internal programs based on their needs, and (3) assist clients in eliminating barriers to self-sufficiency by assessing their aspirations and strengths, advising, coaching and persuading them of the features and advantages of CAMBA’s services, making appropriate referrals to internal and external services and assisting clients to navigate and engage with those services, aligning with their service plan and programmatic goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) or two (2) years of experience in client service or customer service required.
  • One (1) year of experience in client service or customer service required.
  • Strong documentation skills, including an ability to accurately record client information, complete necessary paperwork, and uphold client confidentiality.
  • Client focused, culturally competent, empathetic, and flexible to client needs.
  • Demonstrated ability and dedication to work with refugees, asylees, immigrant, young adults, and low income populations.
  • Ability to multi-task and handle a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
  • Bilingual required in Haitian-Creole, Ukrainian, Farsi/Dari, Spanish, French, Russian, Arabic, or Mandarin (prioritized according to current program needs).

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience completing home visits for non-profit organizations preferred.
  • Familiarity with NYC public benefits eligibility and access and tenant’s rights preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Understand all aspects multiple ever-evolving contracts and the requirements and services definitions for each
  • Pre-screen clients for eligibility and recommend appropriate CAMBA services/programs.
  • Conduct initial intake and assessment of clients and/or clients’ families’ situations and needs, including skill levels, prior work experience, employability, interests, aptitudes, support service needs, family and medical history, and individual development needs.
  • Conduct follow-up calls, refer and enroll clients to the program/programs according to the outcome of the intake process.
  • In collaboration with clients, prepare individual self-sufficiency plans for each client, identifying goals, interim achievement objectives, and services needed.
  • Develop strategies with clients regarding how to break through barriers to their short and long-term goals, overcoming resistance to change, and how to advocate for themselves.
  • Input client data and client progress/service information into databases.
  • Create and maintain client files with detailed records of services provided/financial records, as directed and required by CAMBA, the Department of State, and funders.
  • Recommend and implement strategies to encourage clients to fully participate in their own education and/or employment placement and retention process.
  • Assist clients in completing applications for government programs and in processing these applications with appropriate agencies.
  • Conduct home visits to evaluate living conditions, understand client housing needs, and assess eligibility for program services.
  • Participate in administrative and staff meetings.
  • Provide the required information for reports to CAMBA management and funders.
  • Collaborate with other colleagues to ensure quality insurance is maintained.
  • Other duties as assigned.
