About The Position

The Intake Clinician plays a critical role in welcoming and assessing incoming clients, serving as a key clinical member of our admissions team. This position ensures a smooth, supportive, and clinically sound intake process by conducting assessments, coordinating documentation, and collaborating with internal teams to facilitate timely and appropriate admissions. This role requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and client-centered environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, chemical dependency, or a related field required.
  • Licensure or credentialing preferred: CSAC, LCSW, LPC, LSATP, or individuals under board-approved clinical supervision toward licensure.
  • CPR, AED, and First Aid certification preferred.
  • Strong clinical assessment skills and familiarity with ASAM/LOCUS criteria.
  • Compassion, professionalism, and the ability to support individuals in crisis.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct clinical screenings and level-of-care assessments in accordance with ASAM and/or LOCUS criteria.
  • Facilitate appropriate admissions to detox and residential levels of care.
  • Complete assessments, intake paperwork, crisis plans, authorizations, and other documentation in a timely and compliant manner.
  • Manage admission pre-certifications with funding sources, ensuring accuracy and clinical justification.
  • Collaborate with clinical, nursing, and administrative teams to ensure a consistent, supportive intake experience.
  • Provide referrals to community resources and external agencies when clinically appropriate.
  • Provide occasional coverage for other evaluation clinicians in the region, as needed.
  • Maintain a limited caseload including group therapy responsibilities, as assigned.
  • Deliver assessment services to referral sources such as juvenile justice centers, jails, and other mental health or forensic settings, as needed.
  • Participate in required training and maintain all necessary credentials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
