About The Position

The Intake Clerk functions as an active member of the Assessment and Referral Department at Valle Vista Health System, a 132-bed facility in Greenwood, Indiana. This role provides continuous administrative support, patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients and their families. Valle Vista Health System has been providing high-quality behavioral health care since 1983, offering care for a broad range of psychiatric and addiction disorders to adults, children, and adolescents through inpatient, outpatient, residential, and medication-assisted treatment programs. These programs aim to help patients regain confidence, heal, and successfully function in their communities.

Requirements

• High School Degree or equivalent required.

Nice To Haves

• Two (2) years of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness and substance abuse, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Telephone screening of all inquiry calls with appropriate referrals made for any emergency situations and appointments scheduled as indicated.
• Documents inquiry calls in system data base
• Coordinates with other mental health facilities to obtain clinical referral information and schedule referrals within a timely manner. (2 business days)
• Completes Admission paperwork in accordance with policy.
• Posts Appointment schedule for following day and distributes to the receptionist, nurse and the Director.
• Makes follow-up calls to those failing to show for scheduled appointments.
