About The Position

Wellstone Regional Hospital is a 100-bed acute care facility located in Jeffersonville, Indiana and has been providing quality health care to the residents of Southern Indiana and the Louisville area since 2003. Wellstone specializes in the treatment of Adolescents, Children, and the Adult population. In addition to our in-patient services, we offer out-patient programs as well. Wellstone Regional Hospital is currently recruiting for an Intake Clerk in our Admissions Department. The Intake Clerk performs assigned clerical duties on behalf of the Intake Department, and functions as the focal communication source for the department. Requirements

  • Education: High School Degree or equivalent required.
  • Experience: Two (2) years of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.
  • Additional Requirements: CPI and CPR training within first ninety (30) days of employment. May be required to work overtime and flexible hours when needed. Extensive background check and drug testing will be conducted for this position.

  • Two (2) years of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Answers the phone, forwarding calls to appropriate personnel/departments in a professional, timely manner.
  • Responds to all requests for information in a timely manner.
  • Accepts admissions from other organizations or facilities
  • Preregisters patients for scheduled intake, obtaining authorization and checking insurance eligibility.
  • Interviews patients or their representatives, where admission is unscheduled, for obtaining personal information or verifying information already on file, including emergency numbers and insurance information.
  • Provides Information to the patient/representative about billing, complaint process, patient rights, HIPAA and visiting hours. Distributes facility specific literature.
  • Ensures patient personal items are secured by family member on onsite.
  • Refers patients to the business office when financial arrangements need to be made.
  • Completes pre-certs that are due within 24 hours from admission time.
  • Performs other duties as assigned/required by this position.
