About The Position

Under general supervision, the Intake and Triage (I&T) Specialist reviews, monitors, and ensures compliance with DBHDD's policies, procedures, rules, and regulations. Conducts reviews of provider self-reported incidents or constituent reported complaints occurring in Drug Abuse Treatment and Education Programs (DATEP), Narcotic Treatment Programs (NTP), Adult Residential Mental Health Programs (ARMHP), or Community Living Arrangements (CLA). The I&T specialist will evaluate, and triage reported complaints and incidents for next steps and serve as a resource within the Division of Strategy, Technology, and Performance based upon needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED and three (3) years of job-related experience; or two (2) years of experience required at the lower level Complnc Specialist 1 (RCP060) or position equivalent.
  • Note: Some positions may require a certification or licensure.
  • Note: Some positions may require a valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification(s) and/or Degree in one or more related fields
  • Knowledge of DATEP, NTP, ARMHP, and/or CLA services
  • Experience as a Registered Nurse/LPN, or licensed/certified professional in a related field or setting
  • Experience in utilization review and/or quality assurance in a healthcare setting
  • Experience in conducting assessments and evaluations based on regulations, legal requirements and/or recognized accreditation standards
  • Experience in performing investigations and audits related to allegations that consist of gathering the appropriate information, working with other state agencies, conducting interviews, and documenting findings within the timeframe outlined by the department
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high quality documentation with attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and writing skills
  • Strong customer service experience
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

Responsibilities

  • Maintains working knowledge of all rules and regulations that are used to evaluate provider compliance
  • Conducts reviews and audits of provider self-reported incidents and constituent reported complaints for compliance with related rules and regulations that govern the licensure of the programs
  • Follows specific flows relevant to each program and makes decisions and referrals according to office procedures
  • Makes referrals of regulatory noncompliance to other entities as necessary
  • Acts as a liaison between DBHDD and facilities to obtain additional information
  • Assists in coordinating the data management and quality assurance functions
  • Identifies possible compliance violations with applicable state and/or federal rules and regulations
  • Monitors, tracks, and maintains records on compliance
  • Researches and analyzes state codes, federal regulations and industry manuals regarding forms, policies and procedures
  • Completes accurate, thorough, and timely entry of information into databases and applications
  • Communicates effectively and professionally, verbally and in writing, with providers and other stakeholders, including other DBHDD offices and divisions
  • Provides technical assistance to providers regarding policy, rules, and regulation requirements
  • Use critical thinking skills to determine risks to individuals being served
  • Represents DBHDD professionally during all interactions with providers and stakeholders
  • Other duties as assigned
