About The Position

The Insurance Verification Specialist is responsible for verifying patient insurance eligibility, benefits, authorizations, and referrals prior to services. This role ensures patients understand their coverage and supports a seamless patient experience through accurate and timely insurance verification. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with insurance verification, benefits, or eligibility
  • Minimum 2 years of customer service experience
  • Strong communication skills (phone and written)
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree
  • Experience with medical billing or accounts receivable (AR)
  • Experience with EPIC and/or NextGen (Professional Billing Module)
  • Healthcare or revenue cycle experience
  • Microsoft Excel proficiency
  • Experience with insurance portals and eligibility tools
  • Data entry accuracy and system navigation

Responsibilities

  • Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, authorizations, and referrals for all new patients
  • Educate patients and internal staff on coverage and eligibility details
  • Conduct high-volume outbound calls to insurance companies
  • Ensure accuracy of patient demographics and insurance information
  • Document verification details accurately in the system
  • Meet productivity and turnaround time expectations in a fast-paced environment
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to resolve insurance issues
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
