About The Position

Tri-State is an electric utility. We have an Insurance Intern opportunity for 2026. Students who have successfully completed two (2) to three (3) years of undergraduate study towards a Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management & Insurance, Business Administration, Finance or Accounting from an accredited college or university are encouraged to apply. Seniors who will be graduating in December or are planning to attend graduate school in the Fall are also encouraged to apply. This summer position offers students hands on experience to work in and learn various aspects of Tri-State’s Insurance department.

Requirements

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly motivated self-starter who likes to be challenged and has a willingness to learn.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and completeness.
  • Experience and moderate proficiency using Microsoft Office products.

Responsibilities

  • Under supervision, the intern will be responsible for invoice preparation, budget analysis, renewal application process for various policies.
  • Keep up to date on contractor insurance requirements and submit new contractors to our certificate of insurance management vendor.
  • Monitor status of loss control recommendations.
  • Assist, research and develop a recommendation on the utilization of Captive insurance for Tri-State.
  • Prepare Insurance Survey for G&T members and summarize results.
