About The Position

Are you detail-oriented, analytical, and experienced in excess & surplus lines? We are seeking an experienced Insurance Examiner for a 3-month contract-to-hire opportunity with a progressive and employee-focused insurance brokerage.
This role plays a critical part in ensuring regulatory compliance and accurate document processing for state placements.
Schedule:

Mondays remote
4 days on-site
Summer Fridays remote
Additional remote flexibility may be granted based on performance

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years Property & Casualty or Commercial Lines experience
• Familiarity with Excess/Surplus Lines documentation and terminology
• Strong mathematical skills (premium percentage calculations required)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in general office software and computer systems

Responsibilities

• Examine incoming documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
• Determine correct coverage and classification codes
• Verify eligibility for stamping in New York State
• Identify and resolve missing or incorrect information
• Communicate directly with brokers to obtain clarification
• Correct minor clerical errors with broker consent
• Determine proper suspense codes for returned unstamped items
• Apply official stamps in accordance with NY excess line laws
• Maintain organized monthly filing of affidavits
