About The Position

The Insurance Agent delivers comprehensive insurance solutions to credit union members, select employer groups (SEGs), and the general public. This role requires expertise across all Empower Insurance Services (EIS) insurance lines, with a primary emphasis on Property & Casualty insurance. Success in this position depends on a proactive sales approach, strong product knowledge, and the ability to build and maintain meaningful relationships within the community. The annual salary range for this position is: $58,691.36-$88,037.04. This role is based in Syracuse, New York and requires full-time, on-site presence at our Empower FCU Insurance offices.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of successful insurance sales experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess or begin the process to obtain a current New York State Personal Lines Property and Casualty Insurance License, as determined by the Insurance Manager.
  • Must comply with Continuing Education requirements to maintain licensing.
  • A two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school, or equivalent practical work experience.
  • A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating, influencing or training others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills, including persuasion and negotiation abilities.
  • Clear, effective speech to explain complex information in understandable terms.
  • Strong time management, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Aptitude for billing, calculations, and understanding complex coverage information and underwriting guidelines.
  • Ability to analyze data and learn multiple carriers’ product lines, guidelines, and online systems.
  • Proficiency with general office software and insurance industry tools, with the ability to learn new systems.
  • Professional appearance and willingness to work flexible hours.

Responsibilities

  • Counsel Clients & Prospects: - Provide customized insurance solutions to credit union members, SEGs, and the general public, with a focus on Property & Casualty insurance. - Assess client needs and recommend appropriate insurance products to ensure tailored coverage and satisfaction. - Achieve individual and team sales goals using strong sales skills across all EAS insurance lines. - Stay current on industry trends and regulatory changes to provide informed, compliant guidance. - Build and maintain client relationships through exceptional service and timely responses to inquiries.
  • Build & Maintain Relationships: - Schedule regular check-ins to understand evolving client needs and gather feedback. - Send personalized updates, newsletters, and relevant information to keep clients engaged. - Tailor services to each client’s unique requirements. - Offer exclusive deals or early access to new products when appropriate. - Demonstrate appreciation for each client’s business.
  • Provide Quality Customer Service: - Deliver accurate, efficient, and consistent customer service. - Complete administrative tasks, including applications and record maintenance. - Respond promptly to inquiries and resolve issues effectively. - Document all client interactions thoroughly and accurately. - Continuously improve processes to enhance service quality and administrative efficiency.
