The Instrumentation Technician Senior will install test equipment in development vehicles such as thermocouples, transducers, sensors, fiberoptics, accelerometers, strain gages and data acquisition systems. The role will build, modify, adjust, and calibrate installed devices. The role will build and install low voltage wire harnesses to drawings and schematics. The Instrumentation Technician Senior will mentor and oversee team member’s technical deliverables to ensure Roush and customer standards are met. This position is in Romeo, MI.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience as an Instrumentation Technician
  • Experience performing soldering, crimping, tube bending, component layout and packaging on vehicles or subsystems
  • Able to follow procedures or work instructions provided for assigned projects, such as work requests, shop procedures and shop manuals, publications or schematic diagrams
  • Good organizational skills and works well independently and as part of a team and able to mentor and train others
  • Good communication and time management skills
  • Good attention to detail

Nice To Haves

  • Certificate in Automotive Technology or related
  • Experience leading and mentoring
  • Knowledge of proper installation of thermocouples and pressure transducers
  • National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification(s)
  • State Mechanic Certification(s)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to work overtime as needed including weekends

Responsibilities

  • Building and installing low voltage automotive and instrumentation wiring harnesses, auxiliary battery and electrical systems
  • Installing, adjusting, and calibrating sensors, shunts, fiber optics, accelerometers, strain gages and data acquisition systems
  • Collaborating with Customers, Fabricators, and Mechanics to identify required locations for sensor installation according to Instrumentation Requirement List (IRL)
  • Overseeing and performing complete functional inspection and prove-out of instrumentation according to Instrumentation Quality Assurance (IQA)
  • Diagnosing faulty low voltage automotive and instrumentation wiring systems and repair
  • Working with electronic functional and measurement tools, such as power supplies, function generators, and multimeter
  • Training, coaching, and mentoring team members related to their job responsibilities and is available as a subject matter expert to assist the team and customers
  • Maintaining records by entering notes into service repair requests
  • Keeping shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, trouble shooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, calling for repairs
  • Leading daily shop organization and clean-up
