Platinum Group Metal Services (PGMS) is a leading refiner and recycler of precious group metals. The growing demand for low carbon and responsibly sourced products is creating growth opportunities in critical metals recycling and secondary refining, and as the world’s largest precious metals recycler, PGMS is a key player in the circular economy. The Instrumentation & Controls Technician is responsible for all instrumentation and control activities of the site. This is to include the complete, clear documentation of the test data while ensuring accuracy, and reliability of the equipment. The I&C Technician will ensure that all relevant UUT (Units Under Test) are verified within tolerance and work efficiently. This will be performed in a manner that ensures maximum safety. As an Instrumentation Technician you will be trained and assigned to work on Instrumentation equipment that is used to control Extraordinarily Hazardous Substances (EHS). This will be equipment that controls and measures Cl2 gas. This will be defined within the scope of the New Jersey State Toxic Catastrophic Prevention Act (TCPA). Employees will also be trained in Discharge Prevention Containment and Countermeasures (DPCC) regulations and are responsible for proper identification and notification of spills and leaks of hazardous substances.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for performing all duties in a safe manner, within compliance of all site policies and procedures.
  • The Instrumentation and Controls Technician is accountable for the full understanding of controls that require a general knowledge of electrical low voltage, 120 VAC, 24 VDC with a control circuit knowledge of 4 to 20 mADC input / output / to / from instrument equipment.
  • The understanding of pH, ORP, conductivity/resistivity.
  • The understanding of pressure (“WC, PSIG, PSIA.), differential pressures, vacuum measurement (“Hg, mmHg...).
  • The understanding of temperature measurement type (RTD’s, Type K, R, T, J... thermocouples), temperature controllers, batch controllers, flow meters, control valves, transducers (I / P’s), and tuning of control loop (PID Control = proportional, integral, derivative)
  • Troubleshoot, inspect, test, maintain, repair, clean and calibrate instrumentation and control equipment.
  • Familiar with computerized systems to enter and retrieve relevant data.
  • PLC (Programable Logic Control) for the HMI (Human Managing Interface) display to navigate for instrument process calibration and trouble shooting.
  • Perform regular inspections of plant instrumentation and control equipment.
  • Assist in developing preventative and predictive maintenance procedures for plant instrumentation and control equipment.
  • Interact with different Production Departments Supervisors and Operators.
  • The PSRM group, Engineering, to effectively fabricate, install, troubleshoot new instrumentation devices.
  • Provide technical guidance regarding instrumentation and control equipment.
  • Responsible for maintenance, troubleshooting and calibration of process control systems.
  • Support the Company’s commitment for environmental health & safety and quality by applying RC 14001, ISO 9001, IATF 16949, the site’s Guiding Principles and Sustainability 2017 vision into daily activities.
