About The Position

Centrus is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead our Instrumentation, Controls (I&C) and Operational Technology (OT) networking design and engineering across production and test environments in Oak Ridge. You will own the OT cybersecurity posture and operational reliability for PLC/DCS/SCADA systems, data acquisition/historians, and industrial networking—setting the standards that keep our mission-critical systems secure, deterministic, and compliant. This role unifies I&C design and OT design and requires the ability to translate complex control-system and cybersecurity concepts into clear, actionable guidance for executives, operators, and cross-functional stakeholders.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical/Controls/Computer Engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years in ICS/OT controls and networking; 3+ years of people leadership.
  • Technical fluency: PLC/DCS, instrumentation, ICS protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profinet, EtherNet/IP), and historian/data acquisition systems.
  • Structured reviews.
  • Cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ability to translate complex technical topics for non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with formal Design Control and engineering change processes.
  • On-site leadership presence in Oak Ridge to support operations, cross-team collaboration, and mentoring.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DOE 'Q' clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing and operating deterministic control systems in regulated, safety-critical environments.
  • Familiarity with OT network segmentation, industrial firewalls, and secure remote access patterns.
  • Familiarity with NIST SP 800-82 and NIST 800-53.
  • Background in coordinating data for modeling outputs with control logic and plant operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical strategy and execution for PLC/DCS/SCADA, instrumentation, data acquisition/historian, and industrial networking—driving secure, reliable, and deterministic operations.
  • Own OT cybersecurity posture and standards for network architecture through the design process, configurations, and access—balancing safety, compliance, and uptime.
  • Integrate data flow for advanced engineering modeling and analysis with control-system design and OT network architecture.
  • Institutionalize rigorous reviews (logic, network configs, and models) via structured, constructive peer processes and design control practices.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing team of I&C engineers and OT networking architects; grow technical depth and leadership capability.
  • Partner across engineering, manufacturing, information technology, and project management to design mission-critical programs and deliver secure, reliable, and maintainable to operations.
  • Communicate clearly to executives, stakeholders, and customers—turning complex OT and controls topics into actionable insights.
