About The Position

Brown and Caldwell is currently seeking an enthusiastic entry-Level Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer to join our dynamic team in Salt Lake City, UT. In this role, your primary responsibilities will center on instrumentation and control systems for industrial and municipal projects, with additional opportunities to collaborate with our electrical engineering team and contribute to electrical design tasks. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Strong interest in instrumentation, controls, and automation.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn, adapt, and take on new challenges.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience or coursework in industrial control systems, PLC programming, or instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Revit, or similar drafting/design tools.
  • EIT certification or eligibility.
  • Exposure to the National Electrical Code and industrial power systems.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, specification, and implementation of instrumentation and control systems, including control panels, PLCs, instrumentation selection, and process automation.
  • Support the development of Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), control wiring diagrams, and system schematics.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers on tasks such as power distribution, motor control centers, and related electrical systems.
  • Participate in drafting and design work using AutoCAD, Plant 3D, and/or Revit, with opportunities to learn and grow your skills in 2D and 3D/BIM design.
  • Contribute to the preparation of contract drawings, bid packages, and technical documentation.
  • Conduct field investigations and provide support during construction, both in the office and on-site.
  • Work under the guidance of experienced engineers and designers in a collaborative, multi-discipline environment.
