About The Position

In the role of Instrumentation Controls Electrician working in Wheat Ridge, CO you will provide advanced electrical, mechanical, and controls troubleshooting to support safe, reliable, and continuous plant operations. This role works across a wide range of systems and environments, ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and supporting 24/7 production needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical training, industrial apprenticeship, military training, or related certification preferred
  • Industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or high‑speed production environment
  • Journeyman‑level or equivalent hands‑on experience in electrical, electronic, and controls systems
  • Ability to safely work with electrical systems up to and including 480 volts
  • Proficiency with PLC platforms (PLC5, SLC500, ControlLogix), VFDs, HMI systems, and controls software
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience maintaining and repairing industrial equipment
  • Experience using electrical test instruments (multimeters, clamp meters, meggers, oscilloscopes, diagnostic panels)
  • Working knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance principles
  • Strong communication, problem‑solving, teamwork, and safety‑focused mindset
  • Ability to work rotating 12‑hour shifts, overtime, and in physically demanding environments (heat, cold, heights, confined spaces)
  • Must be at least 21 years of age

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced electrical, mechanical, and controls troubleshooting on complex production and facility systems
  • Maintain, repair, and support plant equipment using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring and testing instruments
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems using ladder logic, schematics, electrical prints, and P&ID drawings
  • Support and maintain PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, relay logic, and associated control systems
  • Perform mechanical maintenance and repairs on motors, conveyors, pneumatic systems, rotating equipment, and production machinery
  • Maintain and support electrical systems under 600 volts across all plant assets
  • Execute preventive and reliability maintenance activities to reduce unplanned downtime
  • Identify infrastructure deficiencies and recommend technical improvements
  • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety standards, including OSHA, NFPA 70E, Lockout/Tagout, and PPE requirements
  • Assist in training and mentoring new employees and trainees
  • Use computer systems including Windows, MS Office, Outlook, and SAP for documentation and reporting
