About The Position

Overview: Responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance tasks to meet objectives in quality, reliability, safety, cost and on time delivery. The Controls Technician ensures the proper operation of measuring and controlling equipment by completing preventative and predictive maintenance and repairs to a wide range of process control, monitoring and safety equipment as directed by supervisory personnel. The Controls Technician must be able to interact with operations personnel, working in teams and without direct supervision to troubleshoot electronic/electrical problems and conduct repairs using work orders, diagrams, sketches, operator’s manuals, manufacturer’s instructions and engineering specifications.

  • Understanding of how to properly/safely use rigging and hoist equipment
  • Must be able to work at heights above 20ft. (Aerial lifts)
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Five years related experience and/or training

Responsibilities

  • Ability to consulting diagrams and technical documentation such as schematics, manuals, standards and codes
  • Ability to install, configure, calibrate and maintain control, measurement and indicating instrumentation (pneumatic, analog & digital)
  • Ability to configure and program Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) and Programmable Automation Controllers (PAC)
  • Ability to install and terminate electrical, pneumatic and fluid connections
  • Ability to inspect and test the operation of instruments and systems to diagnose faults
  • Ability to remove, repair, adjust and replace components; calibrating components and systems
  • Ability to assist Engineering in plant design, modification and hazard analysis
  • Ability to maintain various computer-based control systems
  • Ability to perform scheduled maintenance programs
  • Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC’s and Drives
  • Knowledge with 480V 3 phase circuits and familiarity with 4160V 3 phase systems
  • Knowledge in both AC and DC motor circuits
  • WonderWare/RSView interface and MMI programming
  • Initializing and troubleshooting VFD motor drive
  • Instrumentation and calibration support and training for electricians including ownership of calibration methods
  • Set-up & initialization of monitoring & control devices
  • Instrumentations and controls debugging
  • Start-up and qualification of control systems on new equipment
  • Execute controls projects under the guidance of engineering
  • Troubleshoot electrical controls related process issues
  • Support production uptime efforts and root cause determination of downtime events
