About The Position

The Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Technician plays a key role in maintaining safe, efficient, and reliable operation of power plant systems. The position involves performing maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of a wide range of electrical and instrumentation equipment associated with energy-from-waste boilers, air pollution control systems, and turbine generators. The E&I Technician works to ensure all systems operate within compliance and safety standards while supporting plant reliability and performance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be able to work 12-hour rotating shifts.
  • Ability to perform all duties while upholding Reworld’s values of safety, inclusivity, trust, and continuous improvement.
  • Must be able to work overtime on a rotating on-call schedule to support plant operations as needed including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, and climb as required.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Must qualify to wear a full-face respirator.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions year-round.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and testing of low and medium voltage switchgear, circuit breakers, motor starters, and power transformers.
  • Maintain higher voltage switchyard equipment and steam turbine-driven generators.
  • Perform electrical maintenance work related to energy-from-waste boilers, including pumps, fans, motors, conveyors, and refuse cranes.
  • Perform electrical maintenance work related to energy-from-waste air pollution control systems.
  • Familiar with troubleshooting, assessing, inspecting, adjusting, and repair of Vacuum pumps and related components for environmental monitoring systems.
  • Familiar with troubleshooting, assessing, inspecting, adjustment, and repair Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and historian devices consisting of Digital I/O, relays and PLC components
  • Familiar with troubleshooting and repair of relays and familiar with ladder logic.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance activities such as equipment calibration, thermography, and ultrasonic testing.
  • Operate calibration equipment and perform electrical and instrumentation repairs using proper Reworld safety practices.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation problems and maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.
  • Participate in plant shutdown activities including teardown inspections of electrical plant equipment.
  • Maintain work areas, tools, and equipment in a clean, orderly condition while performing general housekeeping duties.
  • Complete Reworld safety, compliance, and training certifications within assigned timelines.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Electrical and Instrumentation management team.
