About The Position

The I&E Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, calibrating, and maintaining all instrumentation and electrical equipment across the site to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. You will need to develop solid skills in working with electrical equipment and the instruments that control our chemical processes. The technician works closely with Operations, Site Technical teams, and Line Management to support continuous production and minimize unplanned downtime.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Completion of a program in electrical or instrumentation applications, or equivalent
  • No prior professional experience required; entry-level candidates encouraged to apply
  • Basic computer proficiency to navigate Windows-based systems
  • Basic understanding of electrical tools, safety practices, and troubleshooting techniques
  • Ability to stand for up to 4 hours at a time; climb stairs (up to four flights) and ladders regularly
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; perform frequent bending, stooping, crouching, twisting, crawling, climbing, and kneeling
  • Ability to work in PPE including acid suits, vapor suits, hot suits, and respirators as required
  • Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and/or replace motor starter buckets, lighting systems, transformers, relays, contactors, AC motors, VFDs, circuit breakers, power panels, line and control fuses, specialty equipment, pneumatic cylinders, electrical outlets, and gas chromatography instrumentation, Servomex analyzers, and sample systems.
  • Work with low and medium voltage power distribution and control systems
  • Troubleshoot, calibrate, repair, and/or replace flow, level, temperature, and pressure transmitters
  • Maintain control valves, pressure switches, pH meters, LEL meters, and O2 sensors
  • Troubleshoot motor starters and read motor schematics
  • Effectively use field communicators (475/Trex), Fluke multimeters, hand pumps, crystal gauges, thermocouple/RTD simulators, meggers, amp clamps, and various other instrumentation and electrical testing equipment
  • Troubleshoot PLC/DCS I/O systems
  • Read and interpret relay logic and ladder logic diagrams
  • Execute weekly preventive maintenance (PM) procedures and accurately record data
  • Access Windows-based systems to retrieve and print specification data sheets and technical drawings
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the I&E Maintenance Supervisor
  • Complete necessary offsite and on-the-job training
  • Ability to work in a team environment and learn quickly on the job
