Wilson & Company is currently seeking an experienced Instrumentation and Controls Specialist/Technician to assist our growing controls and electrical engineering groups with a focus on automation for industrial, transportation, and governmental facilities. A strong understanding and background in specifying, designing, installation, integration, commissioning, and troubleshooting of PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and remote access systems, and the ability to collaborate with others to support the goals of Company, are expectations for any candidate. In this position, the ideal candidate will have at least eight (8) years of experience in control systems integration, maintenance, troubleshooting, coordination with other consultants and team members, and client interaction. Other requirements include: Developing software design deliverables including PLC and HMI programming design deliverables Developing controls design deliverables, including instrument/device list, I/O list, controls narratives, control panel and controls hardware design, device location plan drawings and installation details Developing the specification and design requirements for control panel and equipment vendors, track vendor progress, and lead Factory Acceptance Tests Experience with process instrument measurements protocols, such as temperature, pressure, flow, level, and control valves. Utilize knowledge of various technologies for selecting the appropriate controls application. Experienced in reviewing P&IDs and working with engineers to define and show proper controls scope of the project. Responsibility for technical execution during onsite start-up and commissioning activities Troubleshooting and resolving issues related to control system integration, both on-site and through remote access, and includes on site PLC/HMI programming, troubleshooting, and repair of code and/or wiring. Creating and maintaining detailed documentation of control system designs and modifications Managing and/or scheduling contractors for repairs Assisting in the development of engineering hour estimates and proposals Compliance with company, client, and project site safety policies Providing field observation reports of onsite analysis and consultation Collaborating with the internal and external project team to execute a project from concept to completion including meeting attendance, site visits, response to RFIs, submittal review and responses Maintaining rapport with industry vendors and staying up to date on the latest trends and solutions appropriate to relevant technologies and design/construction industry Must have or be able to obtain an eRailSafe badge The candidate must have a working knowledge and familiarity with several design codes, standards, and software. Some of these may include: Codes and Standards: NFPA ISA IEC IEEE ISA/IEC 61511 ISO13849 UL508A. Software: Experienced with variety of control and safety systems (PLC, SCADA, SIS, BMS, DCS). Experience in Rockwell Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLC platform Experience with Rockwell Studio 5000 SCADA experience with Factory Talk and Wonderware local and distributed systems, Ignition Software is a plus. Machine safety risk assessment and required PL design compliance to ISO13849 is a plus. Process safety SIF/SIS design compliance to ISA/IEC 61511 is a plus. Required Experience Relevant experience in the identified market sectors: Minimum two (2) year Associate of Science degree in controls and/or automation Minimum eight (8) plus years of consulting engineering experience Familiarity with industry-specific control system software and tools. Strong project management skills and experience handling multiple projects. Excellent communication skills to interface with various stakeholders. Proven track record of successful control system integration projects. Experience with PLCs, SCADA, and other automation systems. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for control systems.
