About The Position

Northeastern Music Programs, a PA-based company owned by Menchey Music Service, provides instrumental and classroom music programs to private and parochial schools, grades PreK-8, in the Greater Philadelphia Region. We have an immediate need for a passionate and dynamic instrumental music teacher (grades 3 – 8) for a part-time, 2 day per week teaching position in the North Wales region. This position is a 2-day teaching position located at two separate parochial schools in the area. This position can be combined with our Drexel Hill opening for a full-time, 5-day position. Core Responsibilities No additional school duties, coverages, or extra responsibilities. At Northeastern Music Programs, we eliminate all the “other stuff” so you can focus on teaching!

Requirements

  • Effective expression and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Demonstrated collaboration and relationship building skills
  • Strong verbal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Prompt, regular, and reliable attendance
  • Ability to perform routine computer functions, including the use of email and Microsoft Word
  • Communicate with students, parents, co-workers, supervisors, and the community in a positive and responsive way that is consistently welcoming and enhances effective work relationships
  • Demonstrate an appreciation of diversity in all interactions and job functions
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education
  • Current valid teaching certificate
  • Proof of the acquisition and maintenance of all required clearances

Responsibilities

  • Weekly small group lessons on band/string instruments
  • Weekly ensemble rehearsals
  • Administrative duties inherent to an instrumental music teaching position
  • Prepare for and coordinate a minimum of 2 student performances per year (Christmas and Spring)
  • Provide academic and goal-based learning experiences that enhance student progress
  • Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate
  • Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods
  • Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests
  • Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health
  • Create a positive environment to ensure successful learning for all students
  • Confer with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic concerns
  • Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, school policies, and administrative regulations
  • Guide and counsel students with adjustment and/or academic issues or special academic interests
  • Prepare objectives and outlines for courses of study, following curriculum guidelines or requirements of company and school
  • Meet with other professionals to discuss individual students' needs and progress
  • Administer assessments and interpret results to determine student strengths and areas of need
  • Understand and maintain boundaries and confidentiality with students, families and staff
