If you’re ready to grow with us and become part of our vision of being the premier Chemical Company, apply today!  IntroductionWe are seeking an Instrument Technician(s) to join the Operations & Maintenance team for the new Golden Triangle Polymers facility located in Orange, TX, which will be operated by Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP. This is an exciting opportunity to utilize your experience and be part of a team contributing to the design, startup, and operation of a new plant from the ground up. This position will transition to ongoing operations following commissioning and startup, with an expected commitment through stable start-up operations.   Initially, the Instrument Technician(s) will serve as an SME during the project phase. They will assist the project by collaborating with contractors, performing system turn-overs, loop checks, function test procedures, and writing/reviewing procedures and drawings. Following startup, the job functions will transition to a more traditional role aligned with normal plant operations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED with at least 5 years of industrial experience as an Instrument Technician performing calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting OR an Associate Degree in Instrumentation with at least 3 years of industrial experience as an Instrument Technician performing calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Valid Driver’s License

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Instrumentation or completion of a related technical or specialized training program.
  • SAP experience.
  • Project experience involving new installations or construction.
  • Basic knowledge of NFPA 70 and 70E standards.
  • Experience with Bently Nevada vibration monitoring systems.
  • Hands on experience with control valves and positioners.
  • Rosemount/Emerson temperature, level, pressure, and flow instrumentation experience.
  • DeltaV DCS experience

Responsibilities

  • Repair and calibrate flow, pressure, level, temperature and differential pressure transmitters
  • Repair and tune various types of controllers associated with process instrumentation
  • Pull, repair and calibrate pneumatic and DVC actuated control valves
  • Install and set pressure, temperature, flow, level switches and monitoring devices and ensure that they operate properly
  • Perform PMs on various process instruments; including dry additive feeders
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures, analyze process conditions and impacts to recommend improvements for chronic reliability problems
