Job Summary Alaska Overview The Alaska segment primarily explores for, produces, transports and markets crude oil, natural gas and NGLs. We are the largest crude oil producer in Alaska and have major ownership interests in the Prudhoe Bay, Kuparuk and Western North Slope asset areas. Additionally, we are one of Alaska’s largest owners of state, federal and fee exploration leases, with approximately one million net undeveloped acres at year-end 2024. Alaska operations contributed 14 percent of our consolidated liquids production and two percent of our consolidated natural gas production. Position Overview ConocoPhillips Alaska is currently seeking Instrument Technicians for on-site work at their Alpine and Kuparuk Fields on the North Slope of Alaska. This position observes a 14-day on/14-day off rotation schedule in a remote work environment. The Instrument Technician will work in the maintenance department at the designated field and report to the E/I Maintenance Supervisor. This position will work in a Journeyman role and develop/demonstrate skills and knowledge to allow for progression within the Journeyman instrumentation position.

Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Current/valid drivers license
  • Associate degree/trade certificate or higher in Instrumentation, related field, or foreign equivalent
  • 5 or more years of experience in instrumentation in an industrial environment
  • 5 or more years of experience in the oil and gas industry
  • Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to work in a remote work location on a 2 weeks on/2 weeks off work schedule
  • Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to complete annual promotional training, set goals, and demonstrate achievement through work performance.

Nice To Haves

  • 10 or more years of field experience
  • 1 or more years of experience with installation, commissioning and maintenance of oil and gas industrial equipment and automation control systems
  • 1 or more years of experience in commissioning or maintenance leadership role with track record of achievement, partnership, technical growth, and increasing responsibilities
  • 1 or more years of experience with a maintenance management system (SAP preferred)
  • Ability to deliver Zero Incident HSE Results
  • Demonstrate active leadership/participation/engagement in achieving a Zero Incident Culture
  • Ability to read, interpret, and red-line P&ID (piping and inst. drawings)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong computing skills, including proficiency in MS Excel and Word

Responsibilities

  • Performance of the Journeyman Instrumentation Technician duties in North Slope Operations, specifically drill sites and facility
  • Performing maintenance on industrial instrumentation process control systems, calibration and testing, repairing electronic, pneumatic and hydraulic instruments, valve repair, PLC & DCS and SIS systems, and turbine controls
  • Performing general maintenance functions such as troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance
  • New installation of instrumentation and control systems in hazardous/classified areas
  • Functional checkout/commissioning of new equipment and facilities
  • Proficiency using test and calibration equipment
  • Utilizing safe work practices and actively participating in company safety processes and programs
  • Working in a team environment with a wide range of personnel
