About The Position

The Instrument Technician at Northwestern Medicine is responsible for cleaning, sterilizing, and packaging instruments for various medical procedures. This role also involves supporting clinical staff by stocking rooms and closets and ensuring efficient patient flow within the clinic. The position requires adherence to NM's mission, vision, values, Code of Ethics, Corporate Compliance Program, and all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory standards.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent

Nice To Haves

1 year of healthcare experience
Experience and knowledge in sterilization processes

Pay close attention to detail and retain knowledge of the work involved
Be capable of planning and assessing priorities to maintain adequate production
Accept responsibility and prefer activities of a repetitive nature
Maintain proper levels of instruments and supplies needed for reprocessing
Accurately maintain comprehensive quality assurance standards related to sterilization and infection control in a sterile area
Operate within the sterilization procedures
Determine whether each piece of equipment that is processed is in correct working condition
Determine whether processed instrumentation meets the stringent criterion for sterility and use
Maintain adequate levels of reserve supplies for routine use and emergency
