About The Position

Responsible for performing a variety of duties in relationship to decontamination, preparation/assembly, sterilization and distribution of trays/sets, equipment and supplies in Sterile Processing with direct supervision. Responsible for routine cleaning in the department. Participates in the distribution of OR supplies, trays/sets and equipment Performs all tasks as assigned in a neat and organized manner. Maintains and prevents cross contamination by observing dress codes, environmental policies and traffic control. Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent is required.
  • Knowledge of aseptic technique, proper sterilization procedures, decontamination and assembly procedures per IAHCSMM, AAMI, AORN, AST, OSHA, JCAHO, The Joint Commission, safety standards, hospital and departmental policies and procedures, generally as related to the Sterile Processing department.
  • Basic knowledge of surgical procedures, surgical instruments, sets and trays to include instruments, classification, disassembly, and cleaning procedure.
  • Must be certified by CBSPD or HSPA
  • Current Heart Saver Certification within 30 days of hire and must be maintained.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as an instrument technician of a minimum of one (1) year is desired or vocational training in Sterile Processing, or supply distribution or related job experience in a hospital, clinic, or medical laboratory may be considered.
