About The Position

The Instrument Engineer reports to the Lead Electrical Field Engineer and is responsible for the technical oversight of all Instrumentation activities in his area of the project. The selected applicant shall provide technical direction to the direct hire/subcontractor work force as well as supervision. The Instrument Engineer is responsible for all aspects of the electrical related work. #LI-NP1

Requirements

  • University/B.S degree in Electrical Engineering and 2-5 years of experience, or 6-9 years of relevant experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Bechtel direct hire craft is preferred
  • Contract management experience
  • Understanding of applicable Bechtel work processes including Standard Work Process Procedures is preferred.
  • Experience in mining and metals is preferred
  • Familiarity with Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs) including ACONEX, TEAMWorks, Bechtel Productivity System, PTR, eSub and other automation tools which are used on Bechtel projects is an asset.
  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Must have experience with construction in all areas of electrical/instrumentation construction.
  • Coordinate with supervision the work schedule and any material deliveries required
  • Complete training requirements assigned.
  • Preparation of electrical/inbstrumenttion work packages
  • Inspection of field installations and completion of associated documentation.
  • Responsible for quantity take-off, control, reporting and forecasting for all electrical quantities.
  • Prepare field change documentation and as-built documentation as required.
  • Interface with engineering office to resolve design and constructability issues.
  • Assist superintendents and subcontractors in constructability and quality issues.
  • Work with the suppliers to ensure compliance with project drawings and specifications.
  • Prepare material requisitions, coordinate, and review vendor drawings.
  • Work with Procurement's expediting team to ensure the delivery of vendor materials to support the projects schedule.
  • Interpret design drawings.
  • Complete material take-offs.
  • Assure that materials are stored properly to ensure environmental protection.
  • Material receipt inspections as required.
  • Reviews specifications, inspection reports, delivery schedules, instruction manuals, and technical data.
  • Assist with preparation of construction estimates.
  • Recommend design or installation improvements to improve safety on the project.
