About The Position

The Instrument/ Electrical Technician reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and/or Operations Supervisor and is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining all process instruments, controls, computers, PLCs and electrical systems at the Newton facility. The Instrument/ Electrician Technician duties will vary but include troubleshooting and repairs of electric, electronic and control circuitry, programmable logic controllers, AC and DC motors, breakers (120v 1- phase to 4160v 3-phase), transformers, power supplies, fiber optics, generators, plant lighting, plant telephone and paging systems, and HVAC equipment. The successful candidate shall be able to perform process instrumentation calibration and repair, interpret drawings and instruction manuals and perform rigging as necessary to move, lift and position heavy equipment. This position requires excellent troubleshooting skills as well as the ability to communicate information in a clear and concise manner. This position requires the use of manual, pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical tools and test equipment as well as the ability to operate motorized lift trucks and overhead cranes. This role will pay $50.10 per hour. Role is also eligible for Medical, dental, and vision insurance for the employee and family members. Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Electronic Engineering Technology or equivalent completion of an approved apprenticeship program
  • 48 months (4 years) experience in instrument and electrical maintenance in a power plant or heavy industry (Power Plant experience preferred)
  • Possess a working knowledge of mathematics and physics
  • Must provide documentation to support their instrument and electrical experience
  • Possess patience and ability to exercise care when working with small and precision parts
  • Must possess basic computer skills needed to perform job functions as needed in a computer based maintenance system.
  • Ability to climb ladders, lift and carry heavy loads
  • Ability to work in areas involving heights, enclosed spaces, and near or above water
  • Must be available and willing to work overtime, and ability to work shift work
  • All applicants must be a successful candidate on the Plant Operator Selection System/Power Plant Operations and Maintenance (POSS / MASS) program in order to be considered a candidate for this position. POSS / MASS exams are administered on an as-needed basis by Human Resources and all communication concerning the testing is sent to the candidate's email address provided during the application process.
