About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is the safe execution of installation, repair and testing of facility instrumented and electrical systems at the Geismar, Louisiana Plant. Key Responsibilities Attend daily meeting to receive and discuss priority and routine work orders. Orders include utilizing diagnostic apparatus to perform testing for the purpose of repairing, replacing or calibrating plant equipment Select, install, and operate measurement devices such as portable gas detectors, pH analyzer, chiller, valves, and transmitters for level, pressure, temperature, and flow Communicate with unit operations to ensure work site has been prepared and to avoid interfering with activities of other workers. Follows lockout, tag-out procedures, checks for documentation of entry permit and checks to make sure lines are closed and locked Inspect worksite to determine presence/root cause of obstruction or change in operational capabilities. May involve dismantling of equipment using hand and power tools to locate the failed equipment (motors, pumps, or valves) Communicate findings to supervisor and production supervisor as needed secondary to the nature of the problem, and the urgency of the repair to determine when planned maintenance will least interfere with unit operations. Generally communicate problem is fixed or repair is completed Assess the failed equipment, order replacement parts, and assemble the equipment with the new parts Test/inspect/calibrate vent pressure, chiller, various analyzers, leak testing, etc. This includes safety harness, respirator, high voltage gloves, and goggles monthly inspections Perform research to identify availability of new technology to improve equipment efficiency and reliability. Communicates with vendors to view product, literature, and studies Follows diagnosis of electrical layout, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings and flooring Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble and install electrical conduit using tools such as hacksaw, pipe threader and conduit bender Pull wiring through conduit. Splice wires by twisting or soldering wires together and applying tape or terminal caps Connect wiring to equipment such as lighting, motors, and instrumentation using hand tools Install control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays and circuit-breaker panels. Connect power cables to equipment such as electric motor and install grounding leads. Test continuity of the circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components using testing instruments such as ohmmeter, and/or megger Complete all regulatory and company mandated training to comply with health, safety, food safety and environmental requirements and policies

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • NCCR & NCCR Plus Certification
  • Computer literacy
  • Ability to follow Good Manufacturing Practices including the proper wearing of clean protective clothing, following personal hygiene standards, and adherence to food/drink/tobacco restrictions

  • Heavy Instrumentation experience preferred
