Primary Purpose: Arrange for off-site clinical placements; provide support to off-site clinical students and supervisors, complete site visits.

Requirements

  • Communicate effectively with others, with or without the use of an interpreter.
  • Communicate effectively in writing, using the English language, with or without the use of auxiliary aids or services.
  • Work cooperatively with colleagues and supervisory staff at all levels.
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence.
  • Florida license in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Master's Degree
  • Communication Sciences and Disorders or Speech-Language Pathology
  • Three (3) years relevant experience in Communication Sciences and Disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in all program orientations for new students.
  • Conducts orientation for all clinic students as to purpose and requirements of externships.
  • Assigns graduate students to off-site placements in settings including hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, private practices, nursing homes, rehabilitations centers, schools.
  • Establishes affiliation agreements and make recommendations for appropriate execution of affiliation agreements.
  • Monitors students in off-site clinical placements through site visits and by telephone.
  • Serves as a resource for off-site supervisors.
  • Manages problems associated with specific graduate students during the course of clinical experiences.
  • Works collaboratively with other faculty involved in off-site clinical placements.
  • Works with Clinic Coordinator to maintain active affiliation agreements and other documentation in a current database.
  • Reviews off-site evaluations of student performance and assign final grades to students.
  • Reviews program portfolio including initial, interim and final portfolio reviews.
  • Works with Clinic Director to periodically edit and revise the Manual for Clinical Practicum.
  • Organizes, develops and manages the annual Supervisors' Conference and the Virtual Job Fair.
  • Works collaboratively with NSU Schools in the establishment of inclusive cross disciplinary affiliation agreements.
  • Teaches courses (site based or online).
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
