About The Position

If you are a positive and confident Speech Language Pathologist looking for a dynamic career opportunity with an innovative and highly respected educational organization, join the Joplin School district! We are seeking a self-motivated and friendly Speech Language Pathologist to provide services to students throughout our district. You will develop Individual Education Programs (IEPs), interventions and educational materials to minimize the adverse impact of communication disorders, in accordance with state and federal regulations. As a Speech Language Pathologist with Joplin, you must possess excellent written communication skills, to develop IEPs and document student progress and superb verbal communication skills to facilitate collaboration with fellow educators, administrators and parents as well as supervise speech therapist implementers. You also must be able to work independently and be accountable for your work.

Requirements

  • Appropriate License with the Board of Healing Arts
  • Master’s degree or higher in Speech-Language Pathology
  • CCC or CFY licensure
  • Ability to assess, analyze and remediate identified communication disorders, including articulation, voice, fluency, language and processing
  • Wide knowledge base incorporating evidence-based practices
  • Ability to drive to various school building locations based on your caseload

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with students with autism, multiple disabilities and moderate to severe cognitive disabilities preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction to students in small and large groups
  • Create and implement a classroom management system
  • Support student behavior needs as appropriate
  • Create therapy plans and implement them based on IEP goals and needs
  • Collaborate with professional colleagues on IEP teams
  • Collect progress data on student IEP goals
  • Participate in building, grade level, and subject area committees
  • Participate in professional development activities
  • Complete and submit forms and required reports in a timely manner
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding progress and other educational concerns
  • Participate as a member of an IEP team, 504 team or other student assistance teams as requested
  • Implement special educational plans such as 504 plans, individual educational programs and individual health plans
  • Report suspected abuse, neglect, discrimination and harassment as directed by Board policy
  • Prepare lesson plans for use by a substitute teacher
  • Supervise students at all times
