About The Position

Job Summary: The Department of Mathematics at Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) invites applications for a continuing Instructor or Assistant Professor of Mathematics. Description of Job Duties: The successful candidate will teach developmental, General Education, support courses, and possibly upper-level courses in Mathematics. This position will include at least some online instruction each semester. Teaching responsibilities include Prep for College Math, Math Concepts / Math Concepts Support, Math Applications / Math Applications Support, College Algebra / College Algebra Support, and Structural Concepts in Mathematics. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Requirements

  • A graduate degree in Mathematics or Mathematics Education is required.
  • Appointment rank will be determined by highest degree earned: candidates with a master’s degree will be appointed as Instructor (non-tenure track), and candidates with a Ph.D. or Ed.D. will be appointed as Assistant Professor (tenure track).

Nice To Haves

  • To contribute to coursework in Mathematics Education, candidates who hold a valid teaching license in Mathematics and three years teaching experience in U.S. public secondary schools are preferred.
  • Teaching experience at the collegiate level is preferred.
  • Technological competence and experience in online teaching and in the LMS Canvas is preferred. All faculty are expected to maintain a Canvas site for each course and gain a working knowledge of the Colleague system.
