About The Position

The Eastern Illinois University Department of Music invites applications for Instructor of Music – Saxophone and Jazz Studies (full-time, non-tenure-track, with a renewable 3-year appointment), beginning in August 2026. Responsibilities: Teach applied saxophone, including classical and jazz styles. Other duties may include teaching jazz courses to music majors and non-music majors, directing a jazz ensemble, and/or coaching a jazz combo. Recruit students for an established, comprehensive undergraduate and graduate music program. Requirements

  • Candidates must have a Master's Degree in Music
  • Must be an accomplished musician and teacher
  • An engaging teaching manner and outstanding interpersonal skills for recruitment and collaboration are essential.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate in Music or equivalent professional experience preferred.
  • Preference given to candidates with collegiate teaching experience with demonstrable student success.
