About The Position

The Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences, and the Arts is a specific investment by the General Assembly in many of the stateʼs most talented and promising young minds. Each year, students from counties across Arkansas come to ASMSA to live and learn within a community of 230 intellectual peers. The residential experience combines college-level coursework, dynamic faculty, advanced research opportunities, diverse experiences within the arts, study abroad trips, and more to create an educational community unlike any other in Arkansas. The woodwind instructor will provide private applied lessons on clarinet and saxophone for ASMSA students to bolster fundamental abilities, work on audition preparation, and work on selected works from solo and chamber literature. There is flexibility for scheduling based on the instructor’s availability. Lessons are 45 to 55 minutes in duration once per week; syllabus and semester guidelines and performance calendar, including Studio Recital and Performance Jury dates.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in music with a concentration in clarinet and/or saxophone as the primary instrument is required
  • Experience teaching secondary-level or university students is required
  • Must be able to demonstrate clear ability and proficiency on both single-reed instruments

Nice To Haves

  • a master’s degree in performance is preferred
