Requirements
Master’s degree in English or a closely related discipline from an accredited program
College English Composition teaching experience
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Nice To Haves
An earned doctorate in English or closely related discipline from an accredited program
Graduate coursework in Composition and Rhetoric, Journalism, or Developmental English
Community college teaching experience
Experience using diverse, student-centered instructional methods that address a variety of learning styles
Experience incorporating current digital technologies in both face-to-face and online pedagogies
Knowledge of the College’s Mission and Vision
Commitment to a culture of assessment and evidence-informed teaching
Responsibilities
Supports student learning by providing quality instruction for a wide variety of college-level composition courses, including those requiring co-requisite developmental support.
Establishes clear course objectives; engaging class activities; effective presentations of learning materials; fair grading practices; timely responses to students; and a positive classroom atmosphere.
Handles a typical teaching load of twelve (12) contact hours per semester. Related responsibilities include maintaining five (5) office hours per week for student advisement and tutoring and participating in departmental, divisional, and College-wide activities.
Participates in department, division, and college-wide service opportunities.
