About The Position

MTC is proud to operate the Joliet Job Corps Center in Joliet, IL where our staff provide quality services to our local youth. Responsible for providing drivers education instruction to students in accordance with the State of Illinois Department of Transportation approved curricula. Provides students with basic direction, in compliance with Department of Labor (DOL) and Management & Training Corporation (MTC) directives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency required
  • Must have held a valid Illinois motor vehicle operator's license for the past (3) three years
  • Possess good health and is free from impairments that would adversely affect the safety of pupils and general public
  • Has acceptable driving record

Responsibilities

  • Provide students with basic direction, instruction and assistance in theory and application of automobile driving skills
  • Demonstrates and explains handling of automobile in emergencies, driving techniques, and mechanical operation of automobile
  • Observes individual’s driving habits and reactions under various driving conditions to ensure conformance with vehicle operational standards and state vehicle code
  • Teach motor vehicle regulations and insurance laws
  • Review and audit all assigned areas regularly for contractual compliance and effectiveness of delivery of services to students. Prepare related reports
  • Motivate and counsel students in areas of behavior, training, personal problems or study habits
  • Coordinate with counselors and staff as necessary to resolve issues affecting student training
  • Develop and prepare lessons; recommend curricula changes and supplemental materials
  • Participate in evaluation of student progress (ESP); establish quality goals for students during each evaluation period
  • Maintain student accountability by documenting class attendance (class periods) daily.
  • Administer and correct tests; maintain progress and attendance reports
  • Control use of equipment and supplies; submit work requests; recommend purchases
  • Responsible for curriculum and lesson plan development and updates necessary to link subject matter to employability skills
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area that models high standards for a work environment
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required
  • Provide positive, quality customer services to students, staff and other center customers
  • Ensure students learn and practice set behavioral expectations that support employability and social development for career readiness success
  • Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps’ Zero Tolerance Policy
  • Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions
  • Maintain accountability of staff, students and property; adhere to safety practices; attend all required training
