Instructor/Director of Athletic Bands
About The Position
Southeastern Louisiana University’s Department of Music and Performing Arts, housed within the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, invites applications for the position of Director of Athletic Bands/Associate Director of Bands at the rank of Instructor. Reporting to the Department Head of Music and Performing Arts, the position will have responsibility for the leadership, development, and management of all athletic band programs at Southeastern. Responsibilities include recruiting and retaining student participants, preparing ensembles for athletic events, coordinating all performance logistics, and budget and inventory management. The appointment begins July 1, 2026. This position is a full-time, non-tenure-track position that requires a full-time, on-site presence in Hammond, LA.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Music
- Demonstrated success with athletic bands
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and external partners
