Portland Community College is seeking a passionate Aviation Maintenance Instructor to join our faculty. Your Role: Training the Next Generation As a faculty member, you will bridge the gap between textbook theory and hangar reality. You will teach a dynamic combination of: General Subjects: Aircraft Hardware, Materials and Processes, Regulations, Ground handling and Servicing—basic knowledge that serves as a base for later subjects. Airframe Structures: From sheet metal to composites, bolts, nuts, and rivets to rigging, balancing, and painting—these are the skills needed to build, inspect, and repair aircraft. Airframe Systems: Masterminding the "body" of the aircraft—Electricity, A/C & Pressurization, Hydraulics, Landing Gear, Communication, Navigation, and Auto flight. Powerplant Systems: Going under the cowling—Reciprocating and Turbine Engines, Ignition, Starting, Lubrication, Engine Air, and Exhaust systems. Requirements

  • Education Background Qualifications: AAS in aviation field of study or Bachelor’s or higher in non-aviation field of study
  • Aviation Licensing Qualifications: Commercial Pilot Certificate and Certified Flight Instructor or Airline Transport Pilot Certificate or Private Pilot certificate and 400 hours of flight experience, AGI, IGI and 5 years aviation management experience.
  • International licenses are not recognized as meeting instructor qualifications at this time.
  • Demonstrated current knowledge of aviation technical skills with recent aviation industry experience.
  • Experience teaching or training in an academic or work environment.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to a safety culture.
  • Demonstrates a collaborative and solution-focused leadership approach.
  • Demonstrates or explains how one would develop curriculum and deliver instruction in response to differences in individual experiences.
