Instructor/Assistant Professor of Exercise Science (Tenure Track)
About The Position
The School of Exercise Science and Sport at Millikin University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Exercise Science position to begin August 1, 2026. A January 2026 start date is negotiable. We seek dynamic student-focused candidates with expertise in Exercise Science or related fields. Areas of specialization may include, but are not limited to, nutrition, biomechanics, growth and development, physical education, mind-body health, strength and conditioning, and personal training. Requirements
- Doctoral degree in Exercise Science or a closely related field is required for appointment at the Assistant Professor level.
- Candidates with a master's degree in Exercise Science or a closely related field may be considered for an Instructor position.
- Demonstrated oral proficiency in the English language as required by state law.
Nice To Haves
- Previous teaching experience.
- Experience working with professional, collegiate, or community exercise science organizations.
- Evidence of an active research agenda and a record of peer-reviewed scholarship.
- Relevant national certifications, such as: National Certification in Strength and Conditioning Coaching (CSCS) National Certification in Personal Training (CPT)
Responsibilities
- Teach a range of undergraduate courses (24 credit hours per academic year).
- Advise and mentor students in course selection, research, and post-graduate planning.
- Develop and maintain a focused research agenda.
- Provide service to the community, helping to enhance experiential learning opportunities.
- Contribute to the governance and mission of the institution.
- Maintain engagement with relevant professional organizations.
