Instructor/Assistant Professor in Navajo Culture/Language School for Dine Studies and Education Academic Affairs Tsaile Campus Duty Schedule: On-Site - Tsaile Main Campus. 40 hours per week. Summary/Objective of Position: Candidate shall perform all duties of a faculty member faithfully and satisfactorily in accordance with the highest level of professional standards and shall perform the duties and responsibilities at the same level of professionalism as set forth by the Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual and also written in the position description provided by the Dine College. This is primarily an in-person position, to be located at the Tsaile, Arizona, campus or one of the external campuses on the Navajo Nation. Although at least half of the courses should be taught in person, this position may include hybrid or online teaching, as necessary. The essential functions of this position include the following: Teaching, student advising, research and creative activities, committee assignments, and community service. These duties as well as student recruitment and placement efforts. Teaching responsibilities include time spent in the classroom and laboratory. Maintaining and improving competence in subjects being taught; Preparing teaching materials, conferring with students on course materials; Directing research and developing portfolios Directing group studies and practicum; Reviewing written examinations and papers; Evaluating artistic presentations; Supervising independent study projects; and Supervising or teaching an internship. Student advising includes time spent meeting and mentoring students regarding academic, curricular, and career matters. Research activities include efforts to create and add knowledge in a field of study, including the advancement of theories and principles; Expanding and interpreting existing ideas, theories, and principles; Professional service implies the use academic and professional expertise to serve your profession, the community, the state, the nation, and the world.
