About The Position

This position works directly with faculty, staff, and students to provide timely and effective Learning Management System (LMS) and other technical support; creates guides and resources for updates and common problem/solutions that arise with the LMS; works as part of the CLT team; develops and delivers training and resources; assists with LMS administrative tasks; investigates and trains with various technology for use in the classroom; works on various Academic Affairs and CLT initiatives as assigned; and improves the quality of instruction, online education, services, and innovative technology use at OCCC.

Requirements

  • Associate degree
  • Minimum (2) years' work experience in an educational setting working with computer software, applications, or hardware
  • Equivalency/Substitution: Minimum two (2) years' work experience in lieu of degree for a total of four (4) years of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provides prompt and daily assistance and technical support for OCCC's Learning Management System (LMS), Moodle, as well as several educational technology platforms, Office 365, and Zoom to students, faculty, and staff via phone, email, Zoom, and/or in-person consultations.
  • Provides front office coverage during the CLT's operating hours.
  • Troubleshoots end-user issues with web browsers, general computer issues, software, and learning technologies.
  • Records and tracks daily support requests.
  • Creates and updates resources for Moodle and other education technology platforms for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Makes improvements and updates to all of the CLT's webpages.
  • Assists with various LMS administrative tasks as assigned and under the direction of the CLT Director.
  • Collaborates with the LMS Administrator to troubleshoot problems, send reports, identify trends, and solve complex LMS issues.
  • Maintains relationship with the ITS Help Desk to assist with support
  • Works on various Academic Affairs and CLT initiatives as needed.
  • Researches new and innovative instructional technologies for viability within a classroom and online settings.
  • Works with the CLT team to identify potential equipment and training needs.
  • Collaborates with the CLT staff and with faculty to implement new technology.
  • Creates and develops training, workshops, and resources for faculty on various and emerging technologies; collaborates directly with the CLT's instructional designers and the LMS Administrator.
  • Maintains up-to-date computer skills by attending training on new equipment and software.
  • Assists faculty with options for presenting instructional materials or presentations using a variety of software applications.
  • Provides accessibility training and helps faculty ensure course materials comply with Section 508/accessibility guidelines.
  • Aids with the updating and maintenance of CLT computers and equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Abide by the policies and procedures published in the Board of Regents Policies and College Policies & Procedures.
  • Contribute to a safe educational & working environment.
  • Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.
  • Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC's established safety and health procedures and practices.
  • Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation, shelter in place drills, and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.
